January 2012: It's Not Too Late to Start Over. Cleanse Your Body, Mind and Spirit! New Kundalini Yoga Practice Video from the Studio.

Frances Frishkorn

It's not too late to start over! Did you rise on January 1, 2012! with the best of intentions and then life just started to take over and you lost some steam? This is just a reminder that you can start your new year over anytime you want! In fact, it may feel more authentic to you to take this time now between the full moon and the upcoming new moon to reset your intentions. This is when the Chinese New Year is celebrated on the first new moon of the year.

I started this New Year with a bang! I was fortunate enough to spend a week in the Southern California Desert on an 8 day cleanse and retreat. I spent the week detoxifying my body AND my mind and revitalizing my life with simple meditation and yoga practices. I unplugged and fasted from the news and media and it felt fantastic!

As the retreat came to a close, I vowed to bring my sense of serenity and equanimity with me into the New Year. I promised myself I would not recreate limiting thoughts and emotions. I renewed my daily practice of yoga, meditation and the sacredness of every day life. I will live each day to the fullest while acting responsibly and sustainably to the very best of my ability. And I will renew these vows daily particularly during this period leading up to the first new moon of the new year. What about you? What will you resolve to reignite in your life and community this year?

Just as everything happens in its own perfect time, many of YOU shared with us some practices that help you with transition, including a new video of some purifying Kundalini Yoga practices to help reignite your daily yoga practice, A recipe for the Ayurvedic Cleansing Food, Kichadi, and Tips to Revitalize and Enhance certain areas of your life. We hope you enjoy!

Clear Your Clutter And Revitalize Your Life! A dear friend recommended Karen Kingston's Book, "Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui" a couple of years ago and when I got my hands on it, I read it cover to cover the first night! I was fascinated! Karen feels the absolute best times for clearing clutter are RIGHT NOW! and in the Spring. Clear Your Clutter offers concise wisdom, but Karen's coup d'etat is the practice of Space Clearing.

From Karen's website. "The history of everything that happens in your home is recorded energetically in the walls, furniture and objects in the space, influencing everything you do. So if you want your New Year resolutions to succeed, here’s an invaluable tip. Begin the year with a deep and thorough space clearing to remove the imprints of all your old habits from your home. Otherwise they’ll just come creeping back again." Stay Tuned for more clutter-clearing tips...

Cleanse with Ayurvedic Healing Food Kichadi: When I returned from my fast, all I wanted to do was eat! After a couple of days of easing my body back with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds, I was dying to make Kichadi. Kichadi, is an Ayurvedic treatment for cleansing and balancing. It is appropriate for all 3 doshas (Kapha, Pitta, Vata). It is easy to make and it is great for the Kidneys, especially on Cold, Wet Winter days. Kitchadi simply requires your favorite Indian Spices, Coconut Oil or Ghee, Mung Beans, Basmati Rice and Water. There are hundreds of ways to make the recipe unique to your specifications, but here is a simple recipe from Amy Chaplin of Angelica's Kitchen, in New York City. Enjoy! And let us know how it makes you feel this time of year!

Happy New Year, again!
